Estimated UK Security Guarding Industry Annual Turnover: £2.2 billion
Estimated UK Companies with turnover relating to Security Guarding: 1,650
Estimated UK Security Guarding Industry average annual labour turnover: 23%*
Estimated Annual Turnover of Top 20 Companies: £1,92 billion
Estimated Percentage of Market Share of Top 20 Companies: 87.27%

Security Industry Authority Licensing Statistics Security Guarding – 15 December 2008

Number of security guarding qualifications held: 183,518
Number of valid Security Industry Authority security guarding licences held: 132,235
Number of SIA security guarding licence applications refused: 4,249
Number of SIA licences revoked: 5,956
Note: There will be a discrepancy between the estimated UK licensable population and the number of valid Security Industry Authority security guarding licences held, due to the following factors; Unlicensed operatives, holders of door supervisor licences working as security guards, security guards who have licensing dispensation notices issued by Approved Contractor Scheme Companies and due to industry labour turnover, those who no longer work in the industry.
