Chris,

I agree with you that moving Infologue.com into the general political arena is not the direction I want to move Infologue.com towards. From time to time I will allow my correspondents latitude as is the case with this article.

Chris is entitled to his opinion and I would defend his right to express it but what does it have to do with Security which is what I thought Infologue was about.
In response to Chris' comments I would suggest that if you look closer at the piece of film where Sarkosy apparently.... brushed aside and ignored the statesman like gesture of Mr. Cameron’s openly offered hand....that he did no such thing. Cameron passed to Sarkosy's left hand side and gently touched his arm with his left hand. Cameron did not offer his hand. If he had done so it would have been his right hand and it would have required a hestitation in both Cameron's and Sarkosy's purposeful walk while the handshake was accepted or refused.

It is yet just another inaccutrate comment made by the media that does nothing other than create further strife.

Excellent article Chris and I agree wholeheartedly especially the comment,
"This wholly proper and sensible decision by the CPS, to not prosecute Cook is the third decision on such a matter in as many months and a further step forward in re-affirming that an Englishman’s home is his castle and long may it be so."

At last some of that rare commodity "commonsense". Long overdue and most welcome.

Bobby surely one of the major issues with security of the games is that Locog still have not signed a contract for the temporary venues effectively reducing a 12 month design and installation project to 9 months!

When David Dickenson was Chief Executive of BSIA he and to a lesser extent myself as then Chairman of the Police and Public Services Section were in prolonged negotiation with the police regarding the guarding industry providing a "last reserve" for circumstances were Police resources became particularly stretched.

Although these conversations stalled, largely I believe as licensing issues became prevalent, it does seem sensible to me that when the current situation calms the guarding industry should seek to re-visit the issue.

From my own experience, where guarding companies achieve a good working relationship with the Police and trust is created, it is possible for guarding personnel to provide a valuable resource releasing Police to more front line positions.

Whilst individual companies will, no doubt, have acheived such relationships I suggest it is now time for the guarding industry to provide an industy wide initiative intended to support Police and public order.

Time will tell whether or not Breivig should be categorised as a "far right" terrorist. Certainly the catastrophic results of his deluded actions demand that his motivation be thoroughly researched and the conclusions acted upon.

I wonder whether his actions are, as a number of writers have stated, "political"?

The fifteen minutes of fame that Andy Warhol said we would all one day have has become seen as a right by some in our society. The fact that silly stupid and sometimes dangerous activity is recorded and posted on social media is seen by many as their moment of glory, recorded for posterity. "Planking" the activity by which a person lays (like a plank)in unusual, dangerous places has already lead to fatalities, none the less "plankers" are posted daily on U Tube and the like.

Relatively meaningless trivial complaints, if not dealt with to the aggreived persons satisfaction can lead to massive over reaction, for instance the man who ran in front of the runners at Cheltenham racecourse endangerng himself, the jockeys and horses was complaining that one of the racehorse owners had turned his daughter down for a job! The man did this knowing he would get on TV and attract publicity.

Breivig may well be a right wing "nutter" he is just as likely to be an underacheiving moron who uses right wing political stances to get himself noticed. When the Norwegian people have not given him the attention he feels he deserves he goes on this appalling killing spree so we are bound to notice him.

Any over reaction to right wing organisations will be counter productive. Until there is absolute proof to the contrary, I believe Breivig should be considered a loner, a pathetic attention seeking, deluded individual who, after due process, should be consigned for the rest of his meaningless life to a dark cell with no hope whatsoever of release.

Very rightly noted by the above comments. The Goverment contracts including local goverment contracts are usually awarded to the cheapest tender.
Its great that the ACS has reached its 5th anniversary but considering it is five years in when are the improvements in the industry going to appear.
