G4S Secure Solutions proves its mettle with Tata Steel contract win

G4S Secure Solutions (G4S), the UK’s leading security company, has been awarded a three year contract with global steel manufacturers, Tata Steel.

The win is in addition to an existing contract with G4S Technology and provides another boost to the growing number of the business’ manufacturing clients.

From April G4S will provide a range of technology and manned guarding security services across five of Tata Steel’s Long Products business sites including; Scunthorpe (North Lincolnshire), Immingham Bulk Terminal (South Humberside), Dalzell (Lanarkshire), Clydebridge (Lanarkshire), and Skinningrove (North Yorkshire).

G4S will be responsible for managing visitor entry for all contractors and employees: for patrolling the sites; administering alcohol testing; enforcing site speed limits and other security related services.

Founded in India, Tata Steel manufactures and supplies steel to more than 50 countries and employs over 80,000 people.

Andy Lane, managing director of Regional Security at G4S Secure Solutions, said: “This contract win is the latest addition to our ever expanding portfolio of manufacturing clients. Our experience in providing bespoke security solutions for businesses in this industry makes us well placed to support Tata at some of their key UK sites.”

Sarah Smith, Health, Safety and Environment Manager for Tata Steel’s Long Products business, said:

“We are committed to enhancing the security of our sites to both prevent intruders from accessing our property, and to ensure anyone working on or visiting our site does so safely and securely.

“Intruders threaten our business and put themselves and others at risk. As our new specialist on-site security services contractor, we are confident G4S will provide the necessary skills and expertise to ensure this cannot happen.”
