Mitie wins award for contribution to training in the security industry

Terry Cheese, Innovation and Relationship Manager for MITIE’s security business, has been awarded the British Security Industry Association (BSIA) Chairman’s award for his contribution to training in the security industry. Terry has been with MITIE since September 2007. During his time at MITIE he has shared his passion for training and development design and delivery, and has transformed MITIE’s security business’ approach to training and development for its people, and service excellence for its clients.

As an experienced learning and development specialist, Terry set about developing internal training programmes for officers and operations managers as well as driving the creation of bespoke training for clients, tailored to their specific needs and environments. Terry’s strategy has addressed the importance of improving standards within MITIE and the industry through innovative training and coaching programmes to enhance skill sets and capability. These training and development initiatives are industry-leading.

Bob Forsyth, Managing Director for MITIE’s security business commented on the announcement “I am delighted that Terry has been recognised for his contribution to both MITIE and the security industry. Terry has proved an invaluable colleague in his time with the security team over the last few years and has an area of expertise where we had a real gap before his arrival.
Terry offers us the ability to provide tailored high level security and customer service training to our clients.”

Terry Cheese added “This is a great achievement for me personally and for MITIE. I am passionate about what I do and will continue to work with MITIE’s people and clients to achieve security excellence. I am excited about the future and building on these successes.”

The Chairman of the BSIA James Kelly presented the award at the BSIA Annual Awards luncheon on 14th July 2010.
