Tyneside Safety Glass wins global specialist glass contract with G4S

Tyneside Safety Glass has won a three-year contract to supply specialist glass for use in all of their new vehicles and any replacement glass required to G4S’s Cash Solutions division, which operates in 60 countries worldwide.G4S is the world’s largest security company, with a presence in around 100 countries and revenues of close to £7bn. Its deal with Tyneside Safety Glass will see the North East company’s products being used all over the world.

The contract will further bolster the Gateshead-based firm’s growing global reputation for specialist glass products with the company already selling into various countries in Europe, the US, Middle East and Australasia. Last year, the firm won a US$250,000 contract to supply bullet resistant glass to an undisclosed Abu Dhabi-based military vehicle manufacturer. It also won an ongoing contract to supply bullet resistant glass to the OVIK Crossway – an entirely British-made military vehicle which is attracting interest from defence and security authorities all over the world.

Reflecting on the company’s latest global contract win, managing director Chris Hannant said:
“We competed in an extremely tough tender process against some major international companies in this sector and we are absolutely delighted to have secured the G4S contract. We are continuing to grow our global market share for bullet resistant glass products and with the manufacturing ability we have and with so many opportunities for us to target I am confident that we will continue to enjoy more success in the coming months.”

To help maintain its growth and presence both in the UK and overseas, the company recently also appointed Hector Alonso as its first dedicated, multilingual International Sales Manager and Mark Sowerby as Sales Estimating Manager.

The firm makes toughened, laminated, bullet resistant and heated glass for a wide range of industries, including defence, security, automotive, agriculture and motorsport. Its bullet resistant and anti-bandit glass products are used for a broad range of applications, including architecturally in banks, building societies, post offices, embassies and private residencies. They can also be found in civilian luxury cars, sports utility vehicles, boats, cask in transit, as well as military vehicles. The privately owned company, which has operated on Tyneside for over 75 years, today has two manufacturing facilities on the Team Valley Industrial Estate.
