Small business network meeting London

The next Small Business Network meeting will be held on 4 October in central London. The meeting is being organised and facilitated by representatives from the network, with the support of the SIA. It is open to delegates working for, or managing, small businesses with up to 250 employees.

Fill in licence applications online with e-Fill

Applicants for SIA licences can now fill in their form online with the e-Fill service introduced by the Security Industry Authority. e-Fill has been designed to make it easier and quicker for applicants to complete their application form.

Security staff targeted in operation spectrum

More than 200 security guards and door supervisors were inspected during a large-scale operation in Leeds, Bristol and Kingston upon Thames on Thursday [01 July]. Operation Spectrum was conducted by Security Industry Authority investigators and saw teams deployed to 89 security sites including retail parks, shopping centres and their CCTV suites, pubs, clubs, businesses and trading parks.

The Security Industry Authority has changed its licence processing targets to reflect the continuous improvements it has made in this area. Previously, the SIA aimed to process 85% of licence applications from UK and EEA nationals within 33 working days

Regulation of in-house door staff in Northern Ireland comes into force

Compulsory licensing for in-house door staff working at licensed premises, such as pubs, bars and clubs, comes into force today in Northern Ireland. By law, all door staff must now hold and display a valid Security Industry Authority licence.
