Definition of ‘terrorism’ may be broadened by Egypt’s proposed anti-terror legislation

The Egyptian government is evaluating the country’s anti-terrorism legislation in order to expand the definition of terrorism and implement harsher consequences for related offences. Some human rights groups have voiced their disagreement to the plans, cautioning that the laws could “potentially allow the authorities to bring a terrorism case against virtually any peaceful activist.”
