Tony Morgan, the founder of the Wessex Group of companies received, last night, the Peter Greenwood Award for Outstanding Contribution to the Security Systems Industry.

The award, which is sponsored by the Fire and Security Association (FSA) and awarded by the Worshipful Company of Security Professionals (WCoSP), was presented to Tony by the Master of the WCoSP, Don Randall and Una Riley, Past Master and guardian of the award, at the FSA’s annual dinner at the magnificent Drapers Hall in the City of London.

The event, which was sponsored by Norbain, followed the FSA’s highly successful national conference and was attended by the great and good of the building services engineering and security and risk management industries including Baroness Henig of Lancaster, ECA President Diane Johnson, Security Institute Chairman Mike Bluestone, BSIA Chief Executive James Kelly, IPSA Chief Executive Justin Bentley, ASIS Vice Chairman Mike Hurst, WCoSP Master Don Randall and FSA Chairman Steve Kimber – to name but a few.

Stefan Hay, head of the FSA said: “Tony has worked tirelessly for decades and at every level to improve standards in the security systems industry, both at educational and technical level.  He is an enthusiastic committee participant and has worked on numerous projects and initiatives over his long career, to improve the business environment for security systems installers.  He is recognised as one of the true leaders and absolute Gentlemen of our industry and the judge’s decision to give this award to Tony was unanimous.”

In accepting the award, Tony Morgan said: “I am honoured to receive this (award), which is given in Peter’s name, as I was instrumental in Peter joining the ECA and became close to him and held him in very high esteem.  His untimely death was tragic, but his memory and ethos lives on and I delighted to be added to the role of honour that shares his memory.”
