New BSIA Section Gives Voice To The Door Supervision Sector

The British Security Industry Association has hosted the inaugural meeting of its Leisure Industry Security Section, giving a formal voice to the door supervision sector in the UK. BSIA Chief Executive, John Bates, comments: “Door supervision is an immensely important area of the private security industry and since the regulation of the sector, levels of professionalism have heightened considerably. The BSIA is delighted to welcome a number of the leading companies into membership and is looking forward to using its extensive expertise and experience to tackle the issues that face the sector and improve best practice. An active dialogue with the Security Industry Authority is clearly a priority for the door supervision sector and the Leisure Industry Security Section is keen to take advantage of BSIA’s strong relationship with the regulator. Further liaison with the police and encouraging more new recruits to the sector are also important areas and the BSIA will be working on these issues in order to support this thriving sector that is so vital to our night-time economy.”

The founding members of the BSIA’s Leisure Industry Security Section are: Phoenix Security UK Ltd, Regency Security Services Ltd, Security Specialist Group Ltd, UK Security Facilities Ltd. Tony Clarke, Managing Director of UK Security Facilities, has been elected as Chairman of the new section and Gary Powers, Managing Director of Regency Security Services, has been elected as Vice-Chairman. One of the first challenges of the section is to grow membership. Companies wishing to join should contact the BSIA helpline on 0845 389 3889 or email membership@bsia.co.uk.
