The exhibitors praised the high technical quality of the visitors, writes Infologue.com Editor, Bobby Logue, who spent three days at Security Essen.

The organisers said that surveys undertaken during the show highlighted the following trends;

Almost 90 percent of the visitors play a crucial role in procurement decisions in their companies,
One in four of the visitors stated that their company intends to spend over Euro 250,000 on security in the coming year; almost twelve percent intend to invest more than Euro 1 million,
Both visitors and exhibitors were positive about the future of the security industry, with over 70 percent of the visitors believing that economic activity improve.

An example of this was the risk of falsification is reduced by innovations in access control, such as identity checking by through fingerprint and vein analysis. Several exhibitors presented solutions for improved security at schools including specially secured escape doors or loudspeaker systems.

Messe Essen honoured pioneering innovations with their prestigious Security Innovation Award. Winners included a fuel cell which produces a low-oxygen protective atmosphere as outgoing air for fire prevention purposes and a near-infrared system which identifies individuals and their access rights.

Dr. Harald Olschok, Chief Executive Officer, Federal Association of German Guarding and Security Companies (BDWS)’ and the Federal Association of German Money and Valuables Services (BDGW ) commented; “BDWS and BDGW are very satisfied with Security Essen, especially with the launch of the dedicated area “Protection, Security & Service’. The new booth construction concept of the show and of the associations was well-accepted and was even more strongly frequented than in the previous years. Here was the meeting place for communication and subjects relating to security policies were addressed as well – e.g. during the debate between Rainer Wendt, the Federal Chairman of German Police Union and Wolfgang Waschulewski, the President of BDWS.”
