| G4S Risk Management, the leading global provider of risk mitigation and secure support services, today announces that its Ordnance Management business has been awarded a contract by SASOL, South Africa’s largest oil and gas company, to carry out land mine and unexploded ordnance (UXO) survey and clearance programme in Mozambique.
The ten Ordnance Management teams, made up of around 500 African and European
deminers and vegetation cutters, are being deployed to clear around 1,000 sq kms
of land around Pande / Temane region in Mozambique. This clearance activity
will enable the laying of thousands of kilometres of seismic lines and
facilitate SASOL’s exploration for oil and gas deposits.

Risk Management has offered ordnance management services to governmental,
commercial and humanitarian organisations since 1994 and its teams have operated
in over 24 countries, including Afghanistan, Cyprus, Iraq, Nepal and South
Lebanon. Over that time it has cleared
thousands of kilometres of land and
destroyed over 20 million items of unexploded ordnance.
