| Leading global
security solutions group G4S today announces the appointment of David Fairnie as
Director – Global Ports Solutions as part of its continuing strategy to
strengthen its key sector capabilities. David joins from DP World where, as
Director of Security, he was responsible for developing and implementing a
global security strategy to guarantee regulatory compliance at all DP World
terminal operations, and ensuring compliance with emerging global supply chain
security programmes and initiatives.
David was also
responsible for successfully implementing the world’s first ISO 28000 standard
for supply chain security management systems, initially at DP World’s head
office in Dubai and subsequently across the company’s global terminal portfolio.
Prior to his time at DP World, David worked for Hart Security as Director of
Maritime and Supply Chain Security where he was responsible for developing the
company’s Maritime and Supply Chain consultancy services. At Hart, David led a
team of consultants who worked for government and private industry clients
conducting Port Facility Security Assessments and designing security solutions
to comply with international legislation.
David’s
appointment is the latest in a number of senior level sector head positions
being created by G4S as it looks to strengthen its total outsourcing
capabilities and become a strategic business partner in sectors where security
is key. G4S has been providing a wide range of security services to ports
throughout the world for a number of years, including provision of security
related services in Gothenburg, Sweden, Bergen in Norway, and Dover in the UK.
G4S’ expertise ranges from providing the full suite of daily security needs to
port operators as well as supporting their compliance with the International
Ship and Port Facility Security (ISPS) Code legislation and additional relevant
national regulations.
David, who is
based in Dubai and has recently started his role, will create a strategy for
developing business in the ports sector focusing on large outsourcing
opportunities, and will work in collaboration with relevant G4S regions and
businesses to build on existing expertise and customer relationships globally.
David reports to G4S Group Strategy and Development Director Graham Levinsohn,
who said: “This new role will strengthen our capability in one of the key
sectors that is central to our strategy. David brings with him a wealth of
experience within the ports sector, and his expertise in new and evolving
compliance, systems and supply chain integration requirements will be pivotal in
helping us take advantage of the global opportunities existing in the port and
maritime supply chain sector. “
