Reliance Security has honoured three officers who tended to a young girl after she was the victim of a prolonged and vicious attack by fellow teenagers. The Reliance team, Supervisor John Perkins, and Officers Tam Earl and Pat Rodgers were on duty at Edinburgh’s Omni leisure complex when the girl staggered into one of the main malls from an externally operated car park.
Reliance Security’s Area
Operations Manager Scotland and Cumbria, Grainne Kelly said: “I am very proud of
the quick and efficient way our staff responded to what must have been a very
disturbing situation. They worked well as a team, dividing their priorities
between tending to the girl’s immediate needs, calling the police and ambulance
service, and then applying first aid.”
Ms Kelly presented the
three officers with official commendations on behalf of Reliance Security, and
their names will go forward to the British Security Industry Association’s
Security Personnel Awards which are open to all security companies throughout
the UK.
John Perkins said: “It’s
really nice to be honoured for basically doing our job, especially when it means
we were able to help someone who needed our assistance. Our training kicked in
when we were confronted with the unexpected and we knew what we had to do.”
A spokesperson for the
Omni Centre, said: “We join with Reliance Security in commending the
professionalism of these officers. We have a strong policy of employing highly
trained customer services staff to ensure the safety and wellbeing of those who
use the centre, and the quick thinking and compassion shown by the team in
managing this incident deserve recognition.”
