Building the Future Award Winner - 2008 - Ian Nisbet

The Infologue.com Building the Future Award is awarded to the person or organisation who in the view of majority of previous winners of the Infologue.com Building the Future Award has created the most significant footprints towards a vibrant, professional and mutually profitable guarding industry during each year. This award is presented jointly by the Editors of Infologue.com and SMT and sponsored by Interconnective Limited. From 2004 the winner will write an essay on their take of our industry in transition. The essay provides an insight into the thinking of industry leaders. The 2008 winner is Ian Nisbet.

Ian Nisbet is presented the 2008 Building the Future Award by Bobby Logue, Editor Infologue.com and Brian Sims, Editor SMT Online

Ian Nisbet was elected as Chairman of the BSIA's Cash and Valuables in Transit Section in 2006 and has been instrumental in driving forward the Association's campaign to reduce cash-in-transit crime. He has been tireless in working with contacts in the Police and Government to raise awareness of the crime which blights the industry and causes injury and distress to couriers and their families. Ian made a huge contribution to the campaign finally obtaining Home Office engagement and to the resulting Cash and Valuables in Transit Crime Reduction Charter. Ian has presided over a change in recruitment policy at G4S Cash Services (UK) Ltd which focuses on the use of internal candidates for promotional opportunities.

As a Board member of Skills for Security, Ian has contributed greatly to shaping the future of skills and training for the industry. He has a clear dedication to the welfare of those that work for him, and indeed of CVIT couriers across the industry, which is borne out in the significant contribution he has made, and continues to make, to reducing cash-in-transit crime.

Ian joined G4S Cash Services in 2004 as Managing Director of G4S Cash Services (UK) Ltd.  He moved into his current role in January 2007, when he assumed additional responsibility for G4S’s cash services business in Ireland. Before joining Cash Services, Ian had been Managing Director of Securicor’s Aviation Security business in the UK.  Prior to that, he spent ten years working in Asia, where he was Managing Director of Guardforce East Asia and then Chubb China Holdings, where both organisations provided a full range of security services, including cash-in-transit, guarding, electronic systems, fire systems, alarm monitoring and aviation security.  Prior to this, Ian spent eleven years as an officer in the British Army.
