CERN has chosen ISS to provide gardening services at the premises of the European Nuclear Research Centre, thereby expanding the existing contract. ISS employees are now taking care of the 150 hectares of green space, road maintenance and the car park, spread over 16 sites.
Jérôme Bochaton, ISS Regional Director Geneva, explains:
– Our cooperation with CERN enters a new dimension. This development reflects the trust on which our business relationship has been based for many years.
The expansion of the agreement is beneficial for both parties. According to Jérôme Bochaton, Didier Colombarini, the Facility Services Manager, plays a key role in the successful relationship. He is the leader of a team of 120 employees and at the same time the most important contact for all customer inquiries. Six new posts have been created for specialists and new machinery has been provided for the management of the new task.
The new agreement is of strategic importance for ISS. Jérôme Bochaton confirms:
– We are able to expand our competence with regard to maintenance of green space with an assignment of this extent. Thanks to the investment in employees with good training and efficient devices, we can offer this service for all types and sizes of green space to other clients as well.
The cooperation between ISS and CERN has been existing for almost twenty years. The CERN agreement with ISS has been growing in the course of time. Initially consisting of inventory management and reception, additional services have been added gradually, such as the management of their own hotel and mail service, parcel distribution and finally, since the beginning of this year the maintenance of the green space as well as of the roads and car parks on the closed premises.
