In two significant developments, Industry Qualifications (IQ) has appointed Richard Diston MSc as Sector Manager for Security Risk and Resilience, and Stuart Galloway, as interim Quality Manager.

The appointment of Richard comes at a time when IQ is remodelling its approach to both sector engagement and quality assurance. It has been a long term aspiration of the company to increase the prominence of sectors within its operational structure, and Richard joins Laurence Clarke MSc, Health and Social Care and Cosmetic Procedures and Monica Jirh BA, Management and Administration in taking a sector leadership role.

IQ intends to develop teams around the Sector Manager, responsible for Qualifications Development, Quality Assurance, learning Product availability and Audit (with IQ Verify). “The purpose is to provide a more holistic approach to our key sectors, with an increased understanding of sector needs and improvements to the integration of our activities in the sectors concerned” said Raymond Clarke, Group Chief Executive.

“We are particularly pleased that Richard has joined us” said Clarke. “He has extensive knowledge of the delivery of training in the sector, having led training within a major UK security company. His academic understanding of the sector is both substantial and at a high level and this combined with his ongoing contribution to industry fora and debates makes him an ideal candidate for IQ”.

In response, Richard said: “I am extremely excited by the opportunity to play a strategic role in the shaping of education and assessment in the sector over the coming years. As a long term customer of IQ, and having studied issues concerning loss and resilience, I hope that IQ will be seen increasingly as the ‘go to’ organisation for those with a keen and professional interest in Security and Risk”.

In a separate development, Stuart Galloway has been appointed as Interim Quality Manager with effect from the 3rd April. Stuart has extensive experience in security training and management development. Stuart will be working with Raymond Clarke, supported by the Sector Managers, to review the approach of the organisations assuring quality and Managing Risk. “I am aware that developing its approach to managing risk in accordance with ISO31000 is an objective of IQ, and I am looking forward to playing my part in that development” said Stuart.
