TSS (Total Security Services) Ltd, the UK’s largest privately-owned security company is working in partnership with Cancer Research UK for their annual Shine Night Walk. TSS is providing free manned guarding at the starting point for the event in Southwark Park for the entire weekend of the night-time walking marathon. TSS also has a team of 20 members of staff, based in Head and Regional Offices participating in the half-marathon walk hoping to use lights, neon and boundless amounts of energy to ‘shine’ as a symbol of hope and progress being made in the fight against cancer.
It is a unique fundraising event where those taking part can choose which cancer they want to beat and raise money for that area of cancer research. Half of the ‘Shiner’s’ participating in the 13.1 mile walk for TSS have decided to raise money for research into children’s cancer and half of the team have decided to raise money for research into prostate cancer.
Ricky Gardezi, Managing Director of TSS, said: “We are delighted to be involved in the Shine Night Walk and to be supporting Cancer Research UK. Our involvement in the event actually stems from celebrating our Company’s 25th Birthday on 27th September and wanting to honour the special date by raising awareness for a fantastic cause. TSS is a family-run business and we have maintained these ethics for 25 years now. We have long recognised the importance of supporting charities and giving to others so it felt natural that on our anniversary we should contribute to such a worthy cause. For this reason, we wanted to provide not only our security services for the event at no cost, but also a whole team of ‘Shiner’s’ who are passionate about the event, hoping to raise a large amount for Cancer Research UK. I am extremely proud of the enthusiasm members of staff throughout the offices have shown; wanting to get involved in the event, raise funds and awareness about cancer research.”
TSS is a London-based employer of choice awarded the Gold Standard by the NSI, a member of the SIA Approved Contractor Scheme and an accredited Investor in People. TSS has just over 4,000 employees and has Regional offices in Birmingham, Bristol, Liverpool, Belfast and Glasgow.
