We have the sad duty to inform you that Dr. Stephan Landrock passed away a few weeks ago in Vienna at the age of 71. Dr. Landrock was one of the founders of CoESS (European Confederation of European Security Services), which was set up in 1989 in Rome, and he chaired the Confederation from 1998 to 2000. One of the highlights of his mandate was the 2nd European Conference of Security Companies, which was held in June 1999 in Berlin, a stepping stone in the development of the security industry.

Stephan Landrock started working for the first Security Company in Vienna in 1965 and from 1974 to 2006 he was the Managing Director of this company. After the takeover by G4S he joined the Board of Directors of the Group 4 Securitas Austria AG.

Landrock was co-founder and for many years a Member of the Board of VSÖ, the Austrian Security Company Association, as well as a Member of the Board of the LIGUE (Ligue Internationale des Sociétés de Surveillance), the first and so far only Worldwide Association of Private Security Services.

“The Worldwide Security Services Community has lost one of its great leaders and a friend. We would like to express our condolences to Stephan’s widow Dorothea, as well as to his children and grand-children”, said Marc Pissens, CoESS President.
