S12 Announces New Appointments To Core Leadership Committee

The S12 Security Guarding Leadership Group (S12) has confirmed a number of new appointments to its core committee, following its latest nominations process.

S12 brings together senior figures from the security guarding sector to engage collectively with government, the Security Industry Authority (SIA) and the Security Minister. The group’s remit includes addressing key industry challenges, supporting higher professional standards, contributing to public safety, and influencing how the guarding sector is perceived.

Although the most recent call for nominations initially sought two new committee members, the range and quality of candidates resulted in four appointments being made.

The new members joining the core committee are:

  • Keith Middleton, Managing Director, Bidvest Noonan (UK) Ltd
  • Steven Moore, Managing Director, OCS
  • Kieran Mackie, Managing Director, Amulet Security
  • Simon Alderson, Chief Executive Officer, First Response Group Ltd

S12 had indicated that this round of nominations would prioritize representation from large and medium-sized organizations to support a more balanced committee. With nominations received from two large and two medium businesses, all four candidates were offered places.

Following these appointments, the committee now comprises representatives from five large companies, three medium-sized businesses and five small firms.

Paul Evans, Chair of the Security Guarding Leadership Group, said:
“We thank all those who put themselves forward to give up their time and resources to help drive positive change in the security industry.

“The appointments of Keith Middleton, Steven Moore, Kieran Mackie and Simon Alderson are all a major win for us, and between them they have a wide range of skills and experience that will be invaluable in helping the S12 achieve its goals. We welcome them all to the team and look forward to them getting stuck in – there’s a lot to do.

“These latest appointments also help balance out the committee in terms of the type and size of businesses represented.

“Finally, we also warmly welcome Abbey Petkar of Magenta Security Services, who joins the committee following a resignation from the previous nomination round. Abbey was the next runner-up in the small business category in that initial voting round, and I equally look forward to benefiting from his years of experience and expertise in the Security Guarding industry.”

Plans for non-ACS representation

S12 has also confirmed that it intends to introduce two non-Approved Contractor Scheme (ACS) board seats in the New Year. The move is intended to broaden representation as the group continues its engagement with government, the Home Office and the SIA on issues including mandatory business licensing, Martyn’s Law, labour exploitation and professional standards.
