S12 Launches Consultation to Define Priorities and Future Workstreams for the Security Sector

The newly formed S12 Security Guarding Leadership Group has announced the launch of an industry-wide consultation aimed at identifying the key priorities that will guide its future agenda and workstreams.

The consultation follows S12’s inaugural meeting with the Security Minister, the Security Industry Authority (SIA), and the Home Office, marking the next step in the group’s mission to represent and advance the interests of the UK’s security guarding sector.

S12 is inviting contributions from across the industry — including frontline officers, business leaders, clients, and wider stakeholders — to ensure the group’s future work reflects the real-world challenges and opportunities faced by those working within the profession. The insights gathered will help determine which workstreams should take precedence, ensuring the group’s focus remains practical, strategic, and aligned with the needs of both the industry and the public it serves.

Security professionals and organisations are encouraged to share their perspectives by completing the consultation survey here: https://form.jotform.com/252754994168069.

The consultation will remain open until 3pm on Wednesday, 15th October. Once closed, S12 members will reconvene on 17th October to review the findings, finalise the workstreams, and appoint individual S12 representatives to lead each area. These workstreams and their proposed objectives will then be presented by the S12 Chair to the Security Minister on 21st October.

Following this, each appointed lead will begin engaging directly with industry representatives to form collaborative working groups tasked with progressing the agreed objectives. The confirmed workstreams are expected to be formally announced to the sector by 24th October.

The consultation marks an important milestone for S12 as it seeks to establish a unified voice for the guarding profession, build stronger relationships across government and industry, and drive improvements that enhance both standards and recognition within the private security field.
