Business Development Manager – Manchester

Looking for a new challenge? An exciting opportunity has arisen for an ambitious, driven, Business Development Manager to join a dynamic, growing, award-winning, Company.

As the Business Development Manager, you will have responsibility for identifying opportunities for new business, operating mainly in the North West and North East. You will proactively develop bespoke service solutions, based on the STM core services, and build long-term relationships. The role will involve a mix of account development and new account generation, predominantly within Manned Guarding sector, although with the opportunity to also grow the Cleaning operation.

Core duties and responsibilities can be broken down as follows:

  • Help develop a growth strategy, particularly for the Northern Region, focused on the STM 5 Year Business Plan
  • Research and identify new business opportunities – including new markets, growth areas, trends, customers, partnerships, products and services
  • Developing external networks, at an appropriate level, within target sectors.
  • Making initial contact with prospective customers
  • Raising the Company profile by attending conferences, meetings, and industry events
  • In conjunction with the Bid Manager, developing quotes and bespoke proposals for clients
  • Working with the Business Development team on developing proposals, updating the Pipeline & Pre-Pipeline spreadsheets, and ensuring compliance with STM Brand guidelines
  • Developing ways to improve the customer experience and build brand loyalty

Previous experience of selling into the manned guarding industry would be a distinct advantage.

Experience & Desirable Skills required for this role:

  • Goal-oriented, organized, team player
  • Ability to analyse data and sales statistics, translating results into improved solutions
  • Face to face, and telephone sales experience, including negotiation and pitching
  • Excellent customer and stakeholder relationship management skills, with strong verbal and written communication skills (including presentational skills)
  • Creative problem solver who thrives on challenge
  • Proficient computer skills, Microsoft Office Suite (Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Excel)
  • A proven track record in business sales or related market
  • A consultative and solution-based sales approach
  • Ability to adopt different sales styles to match individual customer requirements.
  • Ability to prioritise leads and maximize revenue generation, via Sales Pipeline and Pre-Pipeline control.
  • The ability to be flexible and open minded, with an aptitude to think “outside the box”

Previous experience working at a management level, with a proven track record of delivering sales in a similar role, is essential.

The role is mainly field based but, as part of the Northern Regional Team, you will work from the STM Office in Manchester. Travel to customer assignments will be required, with work hours to suit the needs of the business.
