S12 Opens Applications for Two Non-ACS Board Positions

The S12 Security Guarding Leadership Group is inviting applications from representatives of Non-ACS security companies to join its core leadership committee.

The group intends to fill two Non-ACS board member positions as part of its efforts to broaden representation and strengthen engagement with government and industry stakeholders.

The initiative reflects the S12’s approach to ensuring that leadership and decision-making encompass the diversity of business models operating across the UK security guarding sector.

Established to work collectively with government, the Security Minister, and the Security Industry Authority (SIA), the S12 focuses on addressing critical sector challenges, improving professional standards, and enhancing public safety.

With the scope of engagement expanding, the introduction of dedicated Non-ACS representation aims to ensure that policy discussions and reform proposals benefit from the full range of operational experience within the industry.

The two new board members will join the S12 core leadership committee with equal responsibilities and voting rights as current members. They will contribute to setting priorities and participating in key workstreams, including Mandatory Business Licensing, Martyn’s Law, labour exploitation, training malpractice, and the SIA Business Approval Scheme.

Paul Evans, Chair of the S12 Security Guarding Leadership Group, commented:

“The S12 was established to represent the whole of the security guarding industry, and as our engagement with Government deepens, it is vital that our leadership structure continues to reflect the breadth of the sector.

“Introducing two Non-ACS board seats is an important step in ensuring that experienced, compliant and professional Non-ACS businesses have a direct voice at the table as we work on some of the most significant reforms facing our industry.”

Eligibility Criteria

The roles are open to senior leaders from eligible Non-ACS companies providing SIA-licensable guarding services in the UK. Appointees are expected to dedicate time and expertise to S12 activities, including meetings, workstream leadership, and direct engagement with government and regulatory bodies.

Appointments are for two-year terms and require adherence to strict eligibility and compliance standards, reflecting the expectations for S12 representatives. Applicants must submit a detailed application form, professional references, and supporting evidence.

Further information, including eligibility requirements and the application process, is available on the S12 website. Applications close on Wednesday, 4 February at 5pm.
