Amulet Security has secured a new three-year security contract with Govia Thameslink Railway (GTR), with the option to extend for a further two years. Under the agreement, Amulet will provide guarding and technology services across the network’s stations, depots, and seasonal operations.
The contract includes 24/7 manned guarding at ten stations and five depots, delivered by 30 station-based officers and 22 depot security staff. These services will complement GTR’s existing security measures, which include Travel Safe Officers and Rail Enforcement Officers working alongside the British Transport Police.
As part of the arrangement, Amulet will provide front-of-house operations at Go Ahead House, mobile CCTV capabilities, and integrated technology to support real-time monitoring.
A significant element of the contract is Operation OLAF, the rail industry’s annual Christmas stabling programme. Between 24 and 27 December, Amulet will deploy specialist teams to 21 stabling locations nationwide. More than 100 security personnel will be assigned to deliver round-the-clock protection of trains during this period.
Amulet was appointed following a competitive tender process. The company’s proposal was noted for its mobilisation planning, performance management systems, and processes for continuous improvement. Its use of mobile CCTV, command and control systems, and real-time monitoring was identified as exceeding requirements.
Kieran Mackie, managing director of Amulet, said: “This is a fantastic opportunity to deepen our relationship with the rail sector and deliver security services that put passenger and staff safety first. We’re proud to share GTR’s commitment to high standards, innovation, and community impact, and we look forward to working closely together to deliver a safe and welcoming environment across the network.”
Mike Boyce, head of security & policing at GTR, said: “We were impressed with Amulet’s clear understanding of our operational requirements, which supplement our many other security measures and the work of the British Transport Police, and the quality of their mobilisation planning. Their approach demonstrated strong attention to resilience, staff training, and innovative use of technology, all crucial in delivering a consistent, high-quality service across our network. We look forward to working in partnership to enhance safety and security for our passengers and colleagues.”
