Skills for Security has announced the appointment of Gavin Wilson as Head of Sales. The move aligns with the organisation’s broader efforts to support workforce development and address industry skills requirements.
Gavin Wilson brings close to two decades of experience within the security sector, having worked across a range of businesses including national service providers and local installation firms. His background offers insight into the operational and workforce challenges faced by the sector.
Commenting on his new role, Gavin Wilson said: “This is an opportunity to be part of something truly impactful. I’ve seen first-hand how challenging it is for businesses to find skilled engineers, and I’m passionate about changing that. Skills for Security is already doing exceptional work to shape the future of the industry, and I’m excited to contribute to its continued growth. I want to create real pathways for young people unfamiliar with careers in security and show them the opportunities this industry holds.”
The appointment comes as Skills for Security continues to expand its national operations and scale up efforts to support the development of future security professionals.
With growing demand for technically skilled personnel across the sector, training providers are increasingly focused on helping bridge the skills gap. In his new position, Wilson will concentrate on building relationships with employers, growing apprenticeship programmes, and supporting the organisation’s national strategic initiatives.
Wilson will also contribute to the development of new training programmes designed to reflect changes in security sector roles and emerging industry needs.
David Scott, Managing Director of Skills for Security, said: “The demand for new talent across the sector continues to grow, and we’re focused on strengthening our ability to meet that challenge. Gavin’s experience and industry insight make him well-placed to help us engage more employers and expand our reach. His appointment reflects our ongoing investment in the people and partnerships needed to support the future of the industry.”
As Skills for Security continues to grow its network of training centres and sector specialists, the appointment of Gavin Wilson forms part of its ongoing efforts to address the evolving requirements of the security industry.
