Assist Security Group (ASG) has been appointed to provide physical security services at Kingston Hospital, part of the Kingston and Richmond NHS Foundation Trust, marking the Trust’s first change of security provider in almost 30 years.
The contract began in April 2026 and includes the deployment of a dedicated team of security officers across the hospital estate. Coverage will include the emergency department, maternity wards and the control room on a 24/7 basis.
As part of the contract, ASG will introduce its NHS Security Development Programme, which is already in operation across the company’s other NHS contracts in London. The programme received the Outstanding Training Initiative award at the 2026 Outstanding Security Performance Awards.
The initiative is designed to support closer working between security officers and clinical teams and includes the company’s “One Person, One Voice” methodology. The approach is intended to ensure that during sensitive patient interactions, communication is led by a single staff member to reduce confusion and minimise the risk of escalation.
Troy Hewitt, CEO of ASG, said: “Our task is to make a real difference: to the staff who work there every day, to the patients in their care, and to everyone who walks through those doors. We’ve brought new practices and training to Croydon, Epsom, and St Helier NHS, and we’ll do it at Kingston too, working closely with clinical and management teams.”
The Kingston Hospital appointment expands ASG’s NHS portfolio in London, which also includes contracts with Guy’s and St Thomas’ NHS Foundation Trust, Croydon Health Services NHS Trust and Epsom and St Helier University Hospitals NHS Trust.
Paul Grzegorzek, NHS Account Director at ASG, added: “Our security officers working in NHS environments are trained above and beyond industry standards. They’re ready to respond to incidents, but more than that, to prevent them, to build trust with clinical teams, and to be a positive presence on the ward. That’s the culture we bring to Kingston from day one.”
