Copeland Group Services has invested a six-figure sum in the development of an in-house operating platform as the national security provider targets doubling the size of the business over the next three years.
The technology has been developed by the company’s Wirral-based software division, TrakNet Technologies, and now underpins a range of operational functions across Copeland’s UK business. The platform has also been designed for use within the security, remote monitoring and facilities management sectors.
At the centre of the system is T.A.L.I.U.M. (Tactical, Adaptive, Logical, Intelligent, Unified Manager), a voice-activated AI assistant that enables employees and managers to access business information using conversational prompts.
The system provides access to operational performance data, workforce scheduling, financial information, customer relationship management records and vehicle tracking. By integrating data from multiple business systems into a single platform, it provides users with real-time visibility across operations.
Copeland said the platform combines information from customer relationship management, operations, finance, communications, workforce management, and key and vehicle tracking systems, allowing staff to retrieve information without navigating multiple software applications.
The TrakNet platform also includes Copeland Connect, a workforce application used by mobile patrol and site-based personnel. The app supports attendance recording, facial recognition, leave management, incident reporting and lone worker check-ins.
Additional functions include vehicle inspections, SOS alerts linked directly to the company’s control room, access to operational guidance and company updates, uniform ordering, and wellbeing features such as hydration and activity reminders.
Another component of the platform is TrakNet VMS, Copeland’s remote monitoring system, which currently oversees more than 7,000 CCTV cameras, intruder alarms and fire systems from control rooms in Bromborough and Stockport.
The system is compatible with multiple CCTV platforms and incorporates AI-powered facial recognition technology to assist with identification and verification. According to the company, it is capable of monitoring sites both within the UK and internationally.
The technology suite also includes SmartLock, an app-based access control system designed for vacant buildings, warehouses and industrial premises. The system replaces traditional keys with password authentication and one-time passcodes, while integrating with the company’s CCTV technology.
Kyle Disley, chief executive of Copeland, which currently has an annual turnover of £6 million, said: “As the business grows, we need systems that scale with it.
“TrakNet is our answer to that challenge and sits at the very core of our strategy. It’s technology we have developed and built ourselves, tailored precisely to what we do and what our clients need. It keeps us ahead of the curve, improves efficiency for our teams and futureproofs the business as we expand, both in the UK and internationally.
“T.A.L.I.U.M. is a key part of this and marks a step change in how we run the business. Being able to ask a question and get an instant, intelligent answer from across all of our data, whether operational, financial or workforce-related, genuinely sets Copeland apart.
“By removing the need to navigate multiple systems or reports, T.A.L.I.U.M. empowers decision-making at every level of the group, from the control room to the boardroom.”
Disley said the company plans to pursue organic growth over the next three years alongside potential acquisitions.
“The investment in TrakNet is central to our objectives, enabling the company to support more sites, improve integration, attract new business in the UK and internationally, and reduce the administrative burden on our field teams,” he added.
Founded by Disley in 2003, Copeland employs more than 80 people and provides security, remote monitoring, maintenance and lone worker protection services across the UK.
The business operates continuously across sectors including automotive retail, construction, logistics, property management and hospitality. Its services include mobile patrols, keyholding, alarm response, CCTV, fire and intruder alarm installation and monitoring, together with rapid deployment CCTV towers.
Copeland is approved by the Security Industry Authority, holds Constructionline Gold membership, is accredited under the Safety Schemes in Procurement initiative and maintains certification to seven ISO standards.
