SGC Awarded Security Contract with University Hospital Southampton

SGC Security Services has commenced a new security services contract with University Hospital Southampton NHS Foundation Trust (UHS), with the partnership taking effect on 1 July 2026.

UHS is one of the UK’s leading teaching hospital trusts, and under the agreement SGC will provide security services across the Trust’s hospital sites. The partnership is intended to support the safety of patients, visitors and staff while maintaining security operations across the organisation.

Simon Anderson, Commercial Director at SGC Security Services, said:

“This partnership is built on a shared commitment to continuous improvement and delivering high standards in a complex and fast-paced healthcare environment. We understand the unique challenges that NHS organisations face, and our focus is on working in true partnership with the Trust to strengthen safety, security and safeguarding, while supporting the people who deliver these services every day.”

The two organisations will work together to ensure security services continue to meet the operational requirements of a busy healthcare environment as those needs develop over time.

Bertie Young, Associate Director of Facilities at UHS, said:

“We are pleased to welcome SGC Security Services as our new security partner and look forward to working together to maintain safe, secure and welcoming hospital environments.

Security teams play a vital role in supporting the day-to-day operation of our services, helping our hospitals operate effectively around the clock while providing reassurance to patients, visitors and staff.”

The contract also includes a focus on officer training, professional development, safeguarding awareness and staff wellbeing. Security personnel will receive ongoing support to help them recognise and respond to safeguarding concerns while contributing to a safe hospital environment for patients, staff and visitors.

Emma Doyle, Sales Director at SGC Security Services, said:

“A hospital never stands still, and neither should the security that supports it. Our role is to help create an environment where staff can focus on delivering care, patients feel safe, and visitors feel welcome.

We look forward to developing a strong partnership and building on the Trust’s commitment to safety, security and safeguarding, while investing in the people who deliver these essential services every day.”

The partnership forms part of the Trust’s approach to maintaining security services that support hospital operations, patient experience and staff wellbeing while adapting to changing operational requirements.
