On Tuesday 22 September 2015 at Luton Magistrates Court, Asif Abrar of Speckmans Way, Slough entered a guilty plea to a charge under Section 3 of the Private Security Industry Act 2001. Abrar had been working as a security guard for Nationwide Security Management Limited on a construction site in Kings Langley, Hertfordshire. Although his SIA licence had been suspended in January 2014 he was found working as a security guard by SIA investigators in March 2015.
Nationwide Security Management Limited and its director have entered pleas of not guilty to associated charges, and will be heard at a future date.
Investigations Manager, Nathan Salmon of the SIA said
“This case clearly illustrates that the Security Industry Authority will not tolerate people who have had their SIA licences suspended or revoked, yet who continue to work in a licensable role. Mr Abrar was found working as a security guard on a remote building site during an SIA/Hertfordshire Constabulary site visit which showed his licence had been suspended for over a year.
We will continue to work closely with our partners to ensure compliance with the legislation. The Authority is also presently reviewing the Approved Contractor Status of Nationwide Security Management Limited.”
