Accredited MITIE programme welcomes first class security professionals

MITIE has launched the first ever diploma in total security management, accredited by Middlesex University, to train its security managers and put learning into practice to enhance MITIE’s total security management (TSM) business.

The two-year professional development programme is accredited equivalent to an academic level 4 qualification, covering security, business risk and security risk management.

The programme is exclusive to the FTSE strategic outsourcing and energy services company, and draws on exceptional managers in the total security management business throughout the UK, from response, systems, aviation, account management and sales teams.

Bob Forsyth, Managing Director for MITIE’s total security management business said: “The diploma in security management is a giant step forward for MITIE and for the security industry as a whole.  We are committed to developing the field of security management as a skilled profession to best protect our clients and their assets.”

“Our people are our greatest asset and we are pleased to offer our security managers this unique opportunity for development.”

The minimum requirements for the diploma are at least 30-36 hours of prior learning, 14 days of classroom training and approximately 250 of home based learning.

At the end of each completed programme, MITIE will fully fund three exemplary students to continue their studies toward a Certificate in Higher Education, a university qualification requiring an additional 40 academic credits at level 4.

This year MITIE TSM will take nominations from across the business, and is accepting applications for the first term until 9 September.  The programme will begin on 26 October.
