Amthal Fire & Security, part of the Amthal Group, has enhanced security and fire safety measures at a specialist sign-language school, while also facilitating the donation of essential furniture and supplies to support the opening of a new teaching block. This new facility includes six classrooms and a dedicated sixth-form area.
Heathlands School, located in St Albans, is among the largest specialist schools for deaf children in the UK, offering high-quality education since 1975. The school provides both day and weekly boarding options, specialized training facilities, and a British Sign Language Training Centre.
The newly constructed two-storey building, completed in eight months at a cost of £1 million, enables the school to offer education from nursery through sixth form for the first time. This expansion aligns with Heathlands School’s vision of empowering students to “become the best you can be.”
To ensure a secure environment, Amthal Fire & Security implemented a dedicated access control system, integrated CCTV, and a fire alarm in the new extension. This comprehensive security and life safety system is designed to safeguard students, staff, and visitors, fostering peace of mind within the school community.
Collaborating closely with Heathlands School’s management, Amthal customized the security setup to suit the specific needs of a specialist school for deaf children. By addressing these unique requirements, Amthal delivered an efficient and unobtrusive solution that complements the learning environment while ensuring optimal safety.
Additionally, Amthal coordinated the donation of essential furniture and supplies from a former office provider, contributing to the creation of a safe and enriching space for all students.
