G4S is delighted to announce that two of its employees have been bestowed with Butler Trust Awards. The Butler Trust Annual Awards recognise outstanding dedication, skill and creativity on the part of those working in prison, probation, youth justice services, criminal justice social work and court escort & custody settings across the UK.
Fiona Williams, Director of Education Operations at G4S Children’s Services, was awarded an accolade in recognition of the inspirational work and commitment she displayed over 18 months in transforming education provision at the Oak Hill Secure Training Centre. Fiona’s commitment and innovative thinking helped the facility secure an Outstanding rating from Ofsted. Oakhill STC presents a challenging environment for educational professionals and the success Fiona delivered will help ensure better outcomes for the young offenders in the facility.
Tony Ridgeway, Security Officer in G4S Regional Security part of G4S Secure Solutions, was given his award in recognition of his work for the Greater Manchester Intensive Alternative to Custody pilot project. This programme targeted 18-25 year old males that would otherwise face a short custodial sentence. It brought together a range of agencies that were charged with using fresh approaches to achieve positive change and support young men into training, apprenticeships and employment.

Our employees invest a great deal of passion and considerable expertise in developing ‘best practice’ programmes to provide young people with the best opportunity to maximise their potential.”
The Butler Trust receives more than 250 nominations each year from staff, volunteers and offenders for its awards. This year 13 winners were announced and their hard work and dedication celebrated at a ceremony at Buckingham Palace on 15th March. The Awards were launched in 1985 in memory of the reforming former Home Secretary, Rab Butler. The Awards are supported at the very highest level and the Award Winners and Commendees received their certificates from Her Royal Highness, The Princess Royal.
