Carlisle Appoint New Director for Transport Security & Policing

Carlisle Support Services has appointed Allan Gregory as the new Director of Transport Security and Policing. Allan Gregory, who recently retired from his position as Assistant Chief Constable for British Transport Police (BTP), brings over three decades of experience to his new role at Carlisle. His extensive background in the rail and transport sector will support the company’s established client base.

During his 32-year career with BTP, Gregory was responsible for operational performance across England, Scotland, and Wales. His roles included oversight of volume crime investigation, community and stakeholder engagement, use of force, stop search, custody operations, the Special Constabulary, and neighborhood policing. In his most recent role, he led the force’s Integrated Security and Policing Project and served as the Silver Commander on the evening of the Manchester Arena terror attack. He also provided testimony for the Manchester Arena Inquiry. Additionally, Gregory is a qualified Gold (Strategic) Public Order Commander and Multi-Agency Gold (Strategic) Incident Commander, with extensive experience in managing critical incidents and working with the UK rail industry.

In his new position at Carlisle, Gregory will collaborate with the company’s Director of Rail Strategy and Senior Security and Policing Advisor to develop a National Transport Security and Policing Solution. He will also act as the primary liaison with key stakeholders, including the Department for Transport, Home Office, and Security Industry Authority.

Gregory’s experience in fostering collaboration between policing and security resources within the UK’s railway network is expected to play a crucial role in shaping Carlisle’s approach to transport industry policing.

On his appointment, Allan said, “I am delighted to be joining the Carlisle Support Services family. I am eager to learn, and it will be really interesting to see the UK’s railway network from a different perspective. I want to draw on my experience in policing in order to support Carlisle’s focus on the sector. I look forward to meeting the operational teams, our customers, and other key partners.”

Chief Executive Officer, Paul Evans said on Allan’s appointment, “We are really excited to welcome Allan within the Carlisle family. His wealth of expertise will bring invaluable benefits to our clients and further solidify our position as a market leader of people-based support services within the UK rail and transport networks.”
