Chubb Security Personnel wins international safety award

Chubb Security Personnel was honoured with a 2010 International Health & Safety Award from the British Safety Council, to recognize the company’s commitment to improving workplace health and safety. Chubb Security Personnel, a leader in the UK manned guarding industry, is part of UTC Fire & Security, a unit of United Technologies Corp. (NSYSE: UTX).

The British Safety Council’s International Health & Safety Awards recognise and reward organisations that show a real commitment to improving corporate health and safety. They are also acknowledged by the UK Health and Safety Executive (HSE) as helping to drive higher safety standards. The awards were presented at the annual International Safety Awards luncheon in May, attended by more than 900 guests.

Chubb Security Personnel achieved an overall 14.5% reduction in workplace accidents and 29% reduction in the number of assault cases. Additionally, the company introduced a ‘Violence at Work Policy’ which, supported by an Assault Prevention Cardinal Rule and conflict resolution training, helped cut accident incident rates for its major customer by almost 50%.

Nick Savill, Managing Director of Chubb Security Personnel, said that the award reflects the hard work and commitment of his team and the robust management system, communications and training regimes they have in place. “This award acknowledges the dedication that our staff continually demonstrates towards making our working environments safe,” he said. “We are very proud to be one of the only manned guarding operations to achieve this award.”
