First Security Awarded NSI Gold Status

First Security, powered by Interserve, one of the top 10 suppliers of manned guarding and security services in the UK, has been awarded Gold Status for its close protection services by the National Security Inspectorate (NSI).

The NSI is recognised as the leading certification body for the security and fire protection industries in the UK, benchmarking safe and accountable security provisions.

Gold Status considers both product and service provision alongside quality management system certification, recognising those companies that can demonstrate rigorous management procedures together with sector-specific products or services.

To gain this accolade, First Security underwent a thorough audit process, which included evidence of staff training systems and demonstration of the latest techniques to ensure high levels of personal protection are provided. The NSI selected a test-bed environment to monitor the close protection services provided by First Security in a live environment. Provision at Southwark Council, where First Security also provides manned guarding and event security, was monitored over four days with the audit panel returning the Gold Status recommendation.

Tony Byrne, managing director at First Security said: “Receiving NSI Gold Status for our Close Protection services is testament to the hard work and commitment of all our employees and recognises the structures we have established to ensure the right training and infrastructure support. It also builds on our existing Gold Status ratings for manned guarding and key holding.

“We are one of only a few security providers to have received this recognition and will continue to develop our service offer to provide the highest levels of protection to our customers.”
