G4S Aviation Services (UK), part of G4S Transport and Borders (UK), has won the BSIA award for Best Team in the South East, in the regional section of the British Security Industry Association’s (BSIA) Security Personnel Awards 2011.
The teams, which work on the Virgin Atlantic contracts at Heathrow and Gatwick airports, assist the Virgin Atlantic security team with the delivery of security measures to ensure the safety of staff and passengers on all Virgin Atlantic flights departing and arriving at the two airports. The teams work closely together across the two sites, often sharing resources in order to fulfil the requirements of the airline and maintain constant communication to ensure that all agents understand the processes and required service delivery standards.
This diligence has been widely recognised by the customer and passengers as well as third party organisations and regulators, such as; the UK Border Agency and the US Department for Homeland Security.
The agents are also always keen to go above and beyond their duties to ensure the smooth running of the airline’s operations and make themselves available to the airline to help it respond to the changing security requirements and ensure it was complies with any new regulations and standards quickly and efficiently.
Steven Taylor, Interim Managing Director, G4S Transport and Borders, commented: “Every single day the employees display the values of our company. The vast amount of praise they regularly receive demonstrates how thorough and successful they have been in maintaining an excellent level of security.
“At G4S we strive to achieve the highest possible standards and this award is testament to the hard work of our agents at both Heathrow and Gatwick.”
Micheal Lesko, Team Lead at Customs and Border Protection and the Immigration Advisory Program at London Heathrow Airport, commented: “The environment is safer and better prepared for unusual circumstances in large part because of the presence of the G4S Aviation Services’ security team. We value having had the opportunity to work with them and look forward to all future endeavours in our mutual efforts to ear the public’s trust and make the world a safer place.”
The BSIA’s Security Personnel Awards are presented regionally throughout the UK, with the winners going forward to the national judging phase.
The national winners will be presented with their awards at the Association’s annual luncheon on the 13th of July, at the London Hilton Hotel.
