ICTS UK recently provided specialist canine protective security services for the World Skills Exhibition, the largest show ever held at London’s ExCel Exhibition Centre. Working in partnership with Gainsborough Event Management, ICTS canine teams were constantly deployed, in support of the existing security measures, over the four day event held at the prestigious ExCeL venue
Paul Jacomb, ICTS General Security Director commented “This high profile event attracted over 150,000 visitors. Whilst there was no specific intelligence relating to threat at this event, the additional layer of security provided by ICTS ensured that participants and visitors could enjoy their time at ExCel, confident of operating in a safe and secure environment”.
Kevin Bird, Operations Director for Gainsborough stated ‘This is the first time that London has hosted this event since its inception 61 years ago. Entertaining royalty and VIPs from around the world, it was vital the show went off smoothly. As always, the ICTS Canine protective service teams operated with complete professionalism, providing an effective method of screening without any event disruption, with an inherent response capability should it have been necessary’.
More than 1000 young people from 54 countries competed for medals in 46 skills, ranging from aircraft maintenance and electronics to floristry and cabinet making, with the aim of being recognised as the very best in respective chosen fields.
ICTS have now established a permanent canine facility at ExCeL, in partnership with the venue security management team. It operates as the approved specialist canine service provider at the venue, as well as covering many high profile establishments in and around the London area, either as a stand-alone service or in conjunction with the ICTS bespoke manpower and/or cutting edge technology offering.
