Over 600 walkers took part in this hike for the British Heart Foundation (BHT), with Team ISS entering the biggest team from a commercial organisation. ISS UK expects to raise over £10,000 from the event to help the BHF in the organisations’ pioneering work.
Early in the morning, with the temperature at minus three degrees Celsius, the walkers gathered at Matlock Rugby Club ready to start the High Peak. Following a challenging hike, Phil Jones (Managing Director, ISS Facility Services Landscaping) and Dennis Kentrop (Managing Director, ISS Facility Services North) were the first to reach the finish line after deciding to run the 17 miles.
The first walker to complete the hike was Richard Henson (Senior Facilities Manager, at a client site of ISS’) who walked an average of 14 minutes a mile.
Corporate Responsibility Director at ISS UK, Steve Workman said:
– I would like to thank everyone, on behalf of ISS and the BHF, who got up before dawn to complete the High Peak Winter Trail to raise an excellent amount of funds for heart research. It was a really excellent way to spend a Sunday.
Participant Candy Hollingum, Business Support Manager and Finance Specialist at a client site of ISS’ commented:
– A fantastic day all round; Perfect weather, beautiful landscapes and I met some wonderful people. I am looking forward to taking part again next time.
