Specialist security provider Land Sheriffs has taken a significant step in enhancing client and public safety with a newly expanded and upgraded control room featuring continuous real-time CCTV monitoring. The enhanced facility ensures round-the-clock surveillance, reinforcing the company’s commitment to delivering top-tier security solutions.
Based in Essex, Land Sheriffs operates extensively across Britain, primarily within the rail industry. Their services encompass mobile patrols, manned guarding, key holding, security tagging, on-train security, and a variety of crime prevention strategies. With a mission to provide robust security solutions, the company has recently completed an ambitious refurbishment of its control room, making it four times larger than before. The expanded facility now enables security teams to deliver 24/7 monitoring and proactive incident response.
James Coyle, Managing Director of Land Sheriffs, emphasized the importance of the company’s Operational Control Centre (OCC), stating, “Our OCC offers a central hub for smart camera deployment and monitoring, including both covert and overt cameras which feed into the OCC. It’s manned 24 hours a day, seven days a week, every day of the year – which gives our clients complete peace of mind. With the OCC, we can be proactive and preventative to ensure our clients’ land, assets and infrastructure are safe, secure and protected”
The control room functions as the nerve center of Land Sheriffs’ operations, consolidating crucial security intelligence and enabling rapid response to security incidents. Clients such as Network Rail, British Transport Police, and numerous train operating companies rely on this state-of-the-art facility for proactive security management. Equipped with smart lighting and smart speakers that notify controllers of various incident types, the OCC enhances the efficiency of security operations.
A key benefit of the OCC is its ability to strengthen communication and coordination. “Our control room allows us to outsource CCTV for our clients and deal with incidents as efficiently as possible. This extra level of connection means we can provide an end-to-end service and be ‘eyes on’ at all times. Our dedicated controllers actively monitor cameras, identify problems, devise remote solutions, and quickly and effectively dispatch mobile teams and contact emergency services in real-time”, added Coyle.
The OCC has played a crucial role in deterring crimes such as theft and vandalism, as well as facilitating direct interventions when required. Additionally, Land Sheriffs compiles intelligence reports highlighting high-risk areas, security hotspots, and recurring incident types to further enhance preventative measures.
A recent success story involved Network Rail commending Land Sheriffs’ control room team for their swift detection of a trespasser. “Network Rail recently credited our control room and expert professional team for alerting the presence of a trespasser. We provided an exact location and fantastic imagery so the incident could be quickly dealt with. This clear and fast communication with the relevant authorities is key for ensuring swift resolution for our clients”
Coyle concluded, “We are continuously evolving our technology, training, and processes to ensure our OCC and security services remain at the forefront of the industry. Our investment in this upgraded control room reflects our unwavering commitment to offering the best possible security solutions for our clients.”
