The aviation security business of MITIE, the strategic outsourcing and energy services company, has been awarded a three year contract to provide hold baggage screening at Heathrow International Airport.
The contract with the Heathrow AOC will see MITIE working with airlines to screen all checked baggage passing through terminals one, two, three and four, which serves over 42 million passengers a year.
Heathrow International Airport, regarded the hub of aviation worldwide, is home to 90 airlines flying to over 180 destinations in 90 countries.
The aviation security team was chosen following a competitive tender process. The award was based on MITIE’s detailed understanding of key security risks associated with hold baggage screening and the aviation industry; with over 14 years’ experience delivering these services at terminal three.
Commenting on the contract award, Tony Medhurst, Managing Director of MITIE’s aviation and transport security business said:
“We’re delighted to be expanding our working relationship with Heathrow AOC.
We have a great partnership with Heathrow AOC and our expertise in the aviation industry makes us the ideal long-term partner.”
