Mitie Wins 5 Year, £62M Contract with Phoenix Group

Mitie_logo_400x400Mitie has been awarded a significant new contract by Phoenix Group, the UK’s largest long-term savings and retirement business. The contract entails the delivery of integrated facilities management services across the entire Phoenix Group estate.

The five-year contract, valued at £62 million, will cover six locations situated in five cities nationwide, including Edinburgh, London, Hitchin, Wythall, and Telford. This new agreement marks an expansion of Mitie’s existing relationship with Phoenix Group, which already provides cleaning services at two sites in Edinburgh.

As part of the contract, Mitie will offer a comprehensive range of facilities management (FM) services, encompassing planned and reactive maintenance, cleaning, security, catering, waste management, landscaping, decarbonisation initiatives, and additional project work. Notably, this partnership represents the first instance where all FM services across the Phoenix Group estate will be brought together under a single provider, allowing Mitie to implement a truly integrated approach to FM service delivery.

Mitie’s strong sustainability credentials will play a pivotal role in fulfilling the contract and supporting Phoenix Group’s commitment to decarbonisation. With a dedicated focus on reducing carbon emissions, Mitie will appoint a designated Plan Zero Energy Manager, who will be responsible for identifying energy-saving opportunities and implementing measures to reduce energy consumption, all forming part of a carbon performance guarantee.

Additionally, Mitie will actively support Phoenix Group’s investment in its workforce through its ‘Connected Workspace’ initiative. This approach aims to foster enhanced workplace connectivity and collaboration, achieved by implementing Mitie’s market-leading technologies and applications. These advancements will serve to enhance the workplace experience, optimize service efficiency, and enable flexible working arrangements across the entirety of Phoenix Group’s estate. Moreover, Mitie will introduce a cultural change program aligning with Phoenix Group’s vision for equality, diversity, and inclusion.

Simon Venn, Managing Director of Technical Services at Mitie said, “We’re proud that Phoenix Group has entrusted us to bring all their FM services together under our stewardship. We look forward to continuing our partnership, bringing our market leading technology and exceptional people to enhance the workplace experience across Phoenix Group’s sites and help make its net zero ambitions a reality.”

Jackie Cowper, Premises and Resilience Director at Phoenix Group added, “We are excited to start a partnership with Mitie and together play our part in helping to create the best place we have ever worked. This collaboration will see a one team approach to enhancing our colleague experience, delivering our sustainability ambition whilst ensuring flexibility in an ever-changing environment.”
