Leading support services provider OCS Group UK Limited has recently been awarded a trio of accolades at the People into Action Awards, organised by Land Securities.

With an exclusive ceremony held at the Café de Paris in London, the awards scheme is designed to reward those ordinary people who go above and beyond their call of duty. The nominees from OCS all received quarterly awards in their category and included Gary Thompson from The Bridge shopping centre, who was nominated in the Integrity category for apprehending a thief attempting to steal a handbag; the security team at Cabot Circus shopping centre who took the quarterly Exceptional Response award for helping catch a juvenile offender who had committed a serious assault; and Debbie Darvill from OCS and Alex Herd-Smith from Cabot Circus who won the overall Environmental Award for their efforts in reducing the centres landfill waste and increasing their recycling.
The waste team who won the Environmental Award were nominated by James Bailey, Centre Manager at Cabot Circus. They had implemented huge improvements in the diversion of waste from landfill and the efficiency in which they executed a new waste strategy. A strategy was designed in conjunction with the centres contract partner Sita, to include food composting and other new waste streams to be segregated. After the OCS team of 7 increased the recycling rate from 45% to 67% in just one month, James felt their efforts deserved to be recognised.
Jayne Gardiner, Customer Relationship Director at OCS commented, “It was a great evening and all of the nominees and winners are great ambassadors for OCS. It was a pleasure to hear OCS mentioned on so many occasions throughout the evening.”
