A UK food retailer has praised security company G4S – the world’s leading international security solutions group – for protecting it against a burglary in one of its Belfast stores.
Jim Turner (56), a G4S mobile patrol officer for the last 6 years, responding to an alarm activation in the early hours of the morning at a Co-operative Food outlet in Belfast, quickly realised that all was not as it should be. On arrival at the store the G4S officer spotted suspicious activity and quickly notified the police, who arrived onsite and caught thieves red handed as they attempted to steal hundreds of pounds worth of goods from the store.
Steve Hogarth, Regional Loss Prevention Manager from The Co-operative Food said: “Local retailers are often targets for this type of crime but on this occasion we did not suffer any loss of stock from our store. We are pleased that the swift response and actions taken by Jim to alert the police resulted in arrests being made”.
Barry Byrne, MD G4S Northern Ireland, said: “G4S have provided The Co-operative Food, who have a number of stores across Northern Ireland, with a keyholding and alarm response service for the last six years. I am delighted that Jim, on the recommendation of our customer, has received a Recognition Award from G4S to show our appreciation for his actions taken”.
Jim Turner received a certificate and G4S decanter from the global security firm for his prompt and effective action.
The alarm response service from G4S ensures that any alarm activations are dealt with immediately by a team of highly trained and experienced officers, giving The Co-operative Food peace of mind that swift and appropriate action is taken to protect their stores.
