Calling all licensed retail trainers – the 2009 BII NITAs are open for entries. The ultimate recognition of excellence in training, BII NITA pyramids are highly coveted and much sought after. The BII NITAs were created to reward success achieved through effective training and development and winning an award is seen as an opportunity to create real competitive advantage for both individuals and organisations. Submissions are welcomed from licensed retail companies in the on and off sector; training organisations; door supervision trainers and companies and individual licensees.
BII has revamped the competition for 2009 and has appointed a new team of judges, which will be chaired by Vicky Crossingham, Training and Recruitment Director for St Austell Brewery. The entry deadline is Tuesday 1 December 2009 and, after a shortlisting process in December, finalists will be individually interviewed by a judging panel. Winners in the seven categories will be announced at the BIIAB Annual Conference in Coventry on 18th February 2010. Judges will then select an overall winner to receive the 2009 ‘Supreme Award’, which will be announced and presented at the BII Annual Lunch in May 2010. The Supreme Award is given to the very best entry for the year from any category which judges feel demonstrates total commitment to excellence and best practice in the licensed retail sector. The training programme featured may focus on management development or frontline skills.
BII Marketing Director Sue Medhurst commented: “Entering the BII NITAs is a superb opportunity for businesses and individuals to benchmark their training against others in the sector and get independent feedback on it. The judging process for the NITAs is among the most rigorous in Britain and the independent panel of judges features highly influential and well respected names from within the industry. Previous entrants have received extensive local and national media coverage at the shortlisting and winning stages – that’s got to be good for business.”
Entrants are judged on their own merits irrespective of the size of the organisation or the number of people being trained. Entrants do not have to be BII members or BIIAB approved centres or offering BIIAB qualifications. The deadline for entries is 5pm on Tuesday 1 December 2009.
