Big names added to the speakers list for the OSPAs Though Leadership summit.

On Wednesday 26th February 2020, the Third Annual OSPAs Thought Leadership will be held at the Royal Lancaster Hotel in London in conjunction with the NSI. Today, the event organisers have announced the addition of some of the key speakers who will present on the day.

Representing the UK Living Wage Advisory Council will be the organizations’ Chair, Stuart Wright. Mr. Wright will aim to address the question, “Why pay a Real Living Wage and the benefits and implications for the security sector”. This presentation will look at the impact the living has had as well as the direct and indirect benefits that this has had for employers. Additionally, Stuart will address work hours, shift notices, illness, staff turnover and productivity and morale.

Ian Todd, Chief Executive of the SIA will also be in attendance, and will address the “Role of the regulator in promoting best employment practice”. This topic will also explore the concern with regards to operators who pay illegally low wages, do not screen or train properly as well as elements of rogue labour and how this threat can be managed.

The security sector is sometimes viewed as its own worst enemy.  New developments, including technologies, offer enormous scope for improvement, yet these are often shunned as standards and practices are too slow to catch-up, and because some stakeholders lack vision or protect partisan interests at the expense of public good. The event will tackle these issues head on, engaging with controversy, providing a platform for thinking differently; examining what should the collective industry response be, whether the regulators could/should do more and the appropriateness of those responses”, says Professor Martin Gill, Director and Founder of the OSPAs.

The event organisers plan to add additional speakers in the run up to the day where doors will open at 11:15. Lunch will be provided and there will be an exhibition of relevant products and services on display. The event will end at 17:00 and the OSPAs dinner will follow at 18:45.
