The Fire and Security Association has today announced that Steve Norman, Station Manager of A28 Station, Dowgate in the City of London has become the first recipient of the FSA Award for Outstanding Contribution to the Fire Systems Industry.
The award was presented to Steve by the President of the Electrical Contractors’ Association Diane Johnson and the Chairman of the FSA Steve Kimber at the FSA’s annual dinner at the magnificent Drapers Hall in the City of London.
The event, which was sponsored by Norbain, followed the FSA’s highly successful national conference and was attended by the great and good of the building services engineering and fire, security and risk management industries including Baroness Henig of Lancaster, ECA President Diane Johnson, Security Institute Chairman Mike Bluestone, BSIA Chief Executive James Kelly, FBU representative Dave Sibert, ASIS Vice Chairman Mike Hurst, WCoSP Master Don Randall and NSI Chief Executive Andrew White – to name but a few.
FSA Chairman Steve Kimber said: “Steve Norman has worked closely with the industry for a number of years during which time he has developed a reputation as a trustworthy, transparent and fair working partner who with wisdom, humour and tact has managed to negotiate his way through the politics of trade associations and representative bodies. We believe the outputs of his work, which now fully recognise the importance of third party certification, will have an extremely important and positive impact on our industry.”
Steve Norman led the working group for the development of the CFOA Protocol for the Reduction of False Alarms and Unwanted Fire Signals and more recently the Code of Practice for Summoning a Fire Response via Fire Alarm Monitoring Organisations. He also represents CFOA on BS5979 and BS5839 and has recently completed an MBA with the Open University.
