Loomis UK Limited has demonstrated its commitment to reducing its environmental impacts by achieving carbon footprint certification with the Carbon Trust Footprinting Certification Company.
Loomis UK Ltd, the Cash & Valuables in Transit service provider has announced it now carries the Carbon Trust’s Carbon Reduction Label. The Carbon Reduction Label shows that the Carbon Trust has certified the total greenhouse gas emissions at every stage of the service, including packaging, transportation and processing.
By displaying the Carbon Trust’s Carbon Reduction Label on its Cash and Valuables in Transit vehicles, Loomis UK Ltd is making a commitment to reduce the carbon footprint of the service over a two year period. To qualify to bear the Carbon Trust’s Carbon Reduction Label, Loomis UK Ltd had to have the carbon footprint of its service certified to PAS 2050:2008, a specification for the assessment of the life cycle greenhouse gas emissions of goods and services. The carbon footprint was also certified against the Carbon Trust’s Code of Good Practice and Footprint Expert TM Guide.
The carbon footprint of the service was certified as5.5 kg/CO2 per drop (delivery/collection of cash or valuables). Loomis’ Managing Director, Ashley Bailey said; “Everything we buy, produce and use has a carbon footprint. Highlighting this on our vehicles is an integral part of our low carbon business strategy and helps our customers make informed purchasing decisions.”
“Gaining The Carbon Reduction Label is an important milestone for Loomis UK Ltd and demonstrates our commitment to limiting our environmental impact.”
Research by the Carbon Trust shows that nearly nine out of ten consumers now want their favourite brands to help combat the threat of climate change by reducing their carbon footprint, and almost half actively seek information about the carbon impact of the everyday products they buy. Also, 61% of the public are more likely to buy from a company if it has a good reputation for reducing its impact on climate change.
Harry Morrison, Director, of Certification, the Carbon Trust, said:
“We congratulate Loomis UK on measuring and certifying the carbon footprint of its Cash and Valuables in transit service. Demand for companies to disclose the carbon impact of their services continues to grow. The Carbon Reduction Label allows Loomis UK to easily and openly communicate the serious and credible steps it is taking to reduce the carbon emissions associated with its service.”
Building on its work to achieve certification for its Cash & Valuables in Transit service Loomis is also planning to take the following actions as part of its wider carbon reduction programme:
- Developing a strategy to engage, communicate and implement carbon management throughout the whole company.
- Training crew in more environmentally considerate driving techniques.
- Reduction in electrical use within its branches nationwide.
- The appointment of Green Champions to monitor, improve and drive the environmental policy.
