Skills for Security, an offshoot of the BSIA, aims to improve the standards of the security workforce by working with employers to offer apprenticeship security training courses and various levels of qualifications for those engaged in the security industry.
David Scott was announced as the new Skills for Security Managing Director. David will be moving over from New College Lanarkshire where he was the Curriculum & Quality Manager for over 8 years. During his tenure, David helped turn the college into the UK’s largest provider of fire and security internships. David himself came into the industry through an apprenticeship which he then pursued further to become qualified to degree level in both management and teaching. David also recently became a member of the Chartered Management Institute.
BSIA Chief Executive, Mike Reddington said of the appointment. “I am delighted to announce David Scott’s appointment as the new Managing Director of Skills for Security. His commitment to the industry is clearly evident and he regularly attends key industry events across the UK to deliver engaging and promotional talks about training. In 2018 this passion was recognised when he was named as an IFSEC Global Influencer in the category of Security Design, Installation & Integration.
I believe that David’s passion, knowledge, drive, skills and experience, combined with the support of the Skills for Security team means that the number of apprentices we put through our training programmes will grow significantly, and that Skills for Security will achieve its strategic aim of becoming the UK leader in this sector.”
David will be joining the Skills for Security office in Knutsford this month.
