The British Security Awards 2020 winners have been announced

Winners cards.pngThe British Security Awards 2020 was live-streamed for the first time ever on July 1st.  While usually a black-tie event held in London, this year’s event was made public given the restrictions currently in place during the Covid-19 pandemic.

The awards celebrated the best of the security industry’s achievement over the last 12 months with winners coming from a range of companies and walks of life. They were presented by prominent figures in the security industry including SIA Chief Executive, Ian Todd, Security Institute Chief Executive, Rick Mounfield, Metropolitan Police Commissioner Dame Cressida Dick and barrister and author Chris Daw QC.

The winners of this year’s awards were:

Best Newcomer: Harriet Giles – Mitie
Service to the Customer: Thomas Ibbetson – G4S

Outstanding Act: Adam Rich – Mitie
Security Manager of the Year: Babatunde Lawal – G4S

Best Team: Templars Square Security Team – Westgrove Group

Apprentice of the Year: Tessa Bruce – EFT Systems

National Partnership: M&S Connected Solution, Mitie
Installer of the Year: nmcn

Innovative Security Project: Ultraviolet Light Tray Disinfection, Smiths Detection
Business of the Year: STM Group

SME of the Year: Fenix Monitoring
Best Use of Technology: B&Q Crime Centre, Mitie

Contribution to the Industry: Mike Cleary – SmartWater

Simon Banks, Chairman of the BSIA announced that a special award was also to be given to all of the front-line security staff who have continued to work throughout the crisis as critical workers and to those who had lost their lives to the pandemic.

Of the awards, Mike Reddington, Chief Executive, BSIA, says, “Despite the most challenging issue of our lifetime, our members have still managed to present us with a large number of award nominees and eventual winners, and it was only right that we continued to honour both their commitment and the achievements of their employees in the most fitting way possible.

“We have an industry fit to burst with positive ambassadors from within our sector; from young officers starting out to seasoned professionals – every one of them recognised today for having gone above and beyond expectations, demonstrating courage, innovation, customer service and contribution to the industry. Congratulations to all the winners and thank you once again for everyone’s contribution to our industry over the last 12 months, particularly during COVID-19.”
