The British Security Industry Association (BSIA) has welcomed the announcement from the Home Office on its formation of the National CCTV Oversight Body and decision to appoint an interim CCTV regulator. New Course Materials Available For Licence-Linked Training
Skills for Security has announced that it has redesigned its popular Basic Job Training packs in response to the SIA’s announcement concerning changes to their requirements for licence-linked training. From January new trainees in Guarding and CCTV Operation will need to be taught a modular programme, and Door Supervisor training will be brought in line with the new requirements in June. Public Consultation Launched Into Specialist Training For Door Supervisors
Plans to raise standards by introducing additional training for UK door supervisors will form part of a Home Office consultation launched today. The aim of the new proposals is to protect the public by raising standards of training across the industry. Additional training will include physical intervention, first aid, special considerations when dealing with young people and awareness of the threat of terrorism. Excellent Results In First Security Guard Checks In Northern Ireland
The first checks on security guards and CCTV operatives working in Northern Ireland took place yesterday [10 December] – ten days after SIA licensing came into effect. Five teams of SIA investigators visited 35 sites across Belfast, Londonderry, Lisburn, Newry, Craigavon, Antrim and Ballymena. Today at Southwark Crown Court, the final member of a violent gang who committed a number of robberies against cash in transit (CTI) couriers was jailed for his part in these crimes.
