High Compliance Found In Great Yarmouth Door Staff Checks
Checks were conducted on door supervisors working in Great Yarmouth on Friday night [7 August] as part of operation to ensure public safety. Working together, the Security Industry Authority and Norfolk Constabulary checked door supervisors held and displayed valid SIA licences – a requirement by law. At pubs, bars and a caravan park, 27 operatives were inspected. Only one individual was warned for failing to display their licence. Yesterday at Grantham Magistrates Court [30 July], Magistrates handed down a Community Punishment Order (60 hours of unpaid work) and prosecution costs of £1000 to former Grantham doorman Jamie David Barratt after he pleaded guilty to making false statements to the Security Industry Authority – an offence under section 22 of the Private Security Industry Act 2001.Barratt, (22) of Buckminster Gardens, Grantham, Lincolnshire, had previously been convicted of working as an unlicensed door supervisor in August 2008.Barratt then knowingly made false statements in an appeal against the SI...

Thursday night checks at pubs and bars in Skegness and Ingoldmells found door staff complying with licensing regulations [Thursday 23 July]. On the Brent Housing Estate, a neighbourhood warden, Kay-Ann Beckford-Reid of G4S Secure Solutions rescued a young girl who was being attacked by a crowd of thirty youths.
